Soka Art is pleased to announce the artist Zhang Yingnan will present a new solo exhibition " Film" at Soka Art Beijing on June 18, 2022. This solo exhibition is Zhang Yingnan's third solo exhibition at Soka Art. Film is one of the relatively "backward" films in the era of comprehensive digitalization. After shooting, the black and white of the image are reversed, and the red and green are interchanged. The normal color can only appear by rubbing. This projection imaging method is like a chemical art, which requires washing, printing, placing, dark room special effects, black and white colouring, repairing, etc. This rigorous imaging process, just like Zhang Yingnan's depiction of the current state of mind on the canvas, develops a rational, restrained, and lonely process.

The stillness in the picture, the secluded place outside the window, and the light under the dome have become the carrier of the artist's memory, condensing the power of order in the work. Zhang Yingnan once described the painting as a spiritual refuge, a space where one can occasionally maintain a certain distance from reality. Use painting as a medium to express the framework of space as the structure. Therefore, in his works, there is a strong sense of alienation, which is stable, rational, calm and restrained. In Zhang Yingnan's solo exhibition Film, the artist projects multi-dimensional spatial and emotional memories on his works, gradually piecing together the most authentic feelings in his heart, and arousing the audience's inner emotions and subconsciousness.

Zhang Yingnan has been interested in art since childhood. In the early days, he believed that art was a way of catharsis in order to get rid of some restraints, to pursue real freedom and to stretch one's personality. However, the influence of Surrealism in the later period subverted the cognition of art and vision. The mapping of color gamut, proportion, and contrasting colors to the psychology has become Zhang Yingnan's method of exploring himself and the world, He has also created the artist's signature personal artistic style. In this exhibition, Zhang Yingnan uses surrealism and landscape painting methods to reflect the artist's state of mind about the contemporary environment and his true inner self: the alienation of people, the longing and unease about the future, these contemporary social issues His mental state is presented in this exhibition in a philosophical way.
