2021 Art Basel Hong Kong is around the corner and will kick off on May 19th, Soka is pleased to announce the participation in the 2021 Art Basel Hong Kong. Soka will feature three important artists from China: Hong Ling, Mao Xuhui and Zhang Yingnan.


Hong Ling was invited to participate in the 1997 and 2011 Venice Biennale on behalf of Chinese artists. In 2017, Hong Ling's huge work "Four Seasons" was honored to be permanently collected by the National Grand Theatre of China. Hong constructed his own studio in Huangshan and began to travel widely, he pursuing an artistic world of the integration of heaven and human, thus transformed them into the landscape in his paintings. He employs both spray and texturing technique to demonstrate a variation of strengths, speeds and strokes on his canvas, reviving the ancient charm of Chinese Shanshui. Starting with realism he embraced freehand brushwork and then moved in the direction of image expressionism.


Mao Xuhui is one of the 100 most influential contemporary Chinese and leaders of the 1985 Art New Wave, his works are popular among art collectors around the world. Mao' s famous painting object “Scissors” and “Chairs” inspired by his daily life, demonstrates that he excels at intuitive communication and implying sentiment with symbolic images. After experiencing social changes, health issues, and death of family, Mao returned to the depiction of human figure in recent. He has seemingly been writing epics to depict the experiences in his daily life.


Zhang Yingnan was born in the 1980s in Baoji and graduated from Oil Painting Department of Xi'an Academy of Fine Arts, is an contemporary Chinese artists. He uses images and memories to build the mystery space through his painting. Zhang in his paintings to express his true feelings for the social reality experience through the cold color. The rapid development of society behind the alienation of the relationship between people, that is a huge loneliness and emptiness, which are in Zhang Yingnan delicate painting works in the show. In last year, his works were presented by Soka Art at Art Basel Hong Kong and achieved great success.
