The core of Daisuke Teshima's works is the concept of human encounter and interaction in complex urban environments. He expects to explore the unknown at the end of the world through the calm and simple eyes of his wooden figures, gazing and listening to more different possibilities.
The artist was instructed by Japanese modern sculptor Tadara Sato during his university years, and began to touch wood carving during his graduate studies. His works use camphor wood as the main medium, supplemented by color pencils and acrylics, and partially embellished with gold leaf, exuding the pure and subtle brilliance of Japanese aesthetics, and integrating ancient Japanese wood carving into the souls of modern people, through handmade scars and gentle color stacking, so as to make the scattered Through hand-carved marks and soft color stacking, the fragrant camphor wood is transformed into a warm and touching piece in the hands of the artist.The artist's works are warm and touching to the heart. His works have been exhibited mainly in Japan, but also in Korea, Hong Kong and Paris. His humorous wooden sculptures are also in private collections in Japan, Korea, Hong Kong and China.
