Ma Lingli’si work using ancient silk as the base material, the work explores the relationship between light and shadow, illusion and delusion and space by painting, airbrushing, and folding in order to practice the infinite possibilities in two-dimensional space.
Underneath the minimalist patterns are complex trajectories and the fusion of space and time, a rational order and the immeasurability of free will are superimposed on the canvas at the same time, and the unique contradictory tension between the secular and the divine constitutes the essence of the work. On the folds of the silk canvas, the dissolution of traditional inertia and the natural elegance of the silk brush and ink present an inner, secret energy between desire and divinity.
Her works have been exhibited at prestigious institutions such as the National Art Museum of China, Beijing; Today Art Museum Beijing; Song Art Museum, Beijing; Fukuoka Asian Art Museum, Fukuoka; the Royal Academy of Arts, Kensington and the Taylor Foundation, Paris.
