Yang Xun (b.1981) was born in Chongqing, graduated from the Oil Painting Department of Sichuan Fine Arts Institute in 2005. He currently works and lives in Beijing. Yang Xun’s paintings are inextricably connected with Chinese tradition, yet without losing rationality and restraint. Traditional Chinese landscaping, Chinese opera figures, rockeries, flowers and bamboos in traditional Chinese style are the major elements in his works. His painting appears to be an attempt to revive some certain tradition, especially in an aesthetical perspective. His work, with a touch of peculiarity foreign to his age and time, is considered the representative of New Oriental Aesthetics in the younger generation.
