Soka Art is pleased to announce the exclusive representation of artist Yan Yineng and will hold his solo exhibition of the artist’s name, Yan Yineng, on January 7, 2023, at Soka Art Beijing. It’s also Yan Yineng’s first solo exhibition in ten years.

The exhibition is curated by Wang Guangle, who, as same as Yan Yineng, came to Beijing from a small southern city as a teenager and took the path of art at the junction of the century. Yan Yineng and Wang Guangle were born in the same year, went to the same school, and were the closest friend and companions for years. Their divergence occurred in 2012 when Yan Yineng's lyrical and monological narrative took him away from the gallery system and into the wilderness of artistic exploration of individual life and intuition. Whereas Wang Guangle's narrative and self-conscious discourse led to full integration with society. Such parallel paths, through a decade of gazing, have intersected into this complementary dialogue today.

It can be understood that this exhibition is an unusual superimposed double exhibition. That is, what is visually seen in Yan Yineng's paintings, but these artworks are selected, arranged, and elaborated by another artist. Therefore, Yan Yineng, as the theme of the exhibition, has become Wang Guangle's object. And his works, as the material of the exhibition, are presented in an invisible form of reflection.

The exhibition will run through February 19, 2023.
