Soka Art is pleased to announce the return to ABHK 2023 for a greater exhibition space with 7 important established and emerging contemporary artists across Asia. Soka will explore the phenomenology of synchronicity through artists: Hong Ling (b.1955-) ,Mao Xuhui (b.1956-),Tang Zhiyi (b.1971- ), Tan Jun (b.1973-), Hsi Shih-Pin (b.1977-), Zhang Yingnan (b.1981-), Yuya Hashizume (b.1983-). We are very looking forward to meeting you in Hong Kong.

  

Hong Ling(b.1955-) participated in the Venice Biennale in 1997 and 2011. In 2020, Hong Ling's work Torchlight in Autumn was placed in the main hall of the National Centre for the Performing Arts. Hong Ling has had solo exhibitions at the Today Art Museum (Beijing), Asia Foundation(London), National Art Museum of China (Beijing), National Chester Beatty Museum (Dublin), and the School of Oriental and African Studies(London).


Tang Zhiyi(b.1971-) apply traditional Chinese materials, lacquer, to his work. Tang's abstract works reveal a contemporary variation of conventional lacquer techniques. His work is collected by the National Art Museum of China, and the Fujian Museum. 


Tan Jun(b.1973-), as a contemporary generation of Chinese ink artists, his work combines traditional Chinese painting with the artist's thoughts of freedom and solitude. He had a major solo exhibition at the Shanghai Art Museum in 2008. Tan's works were also shown in exhibitions at the Today Art Museum (Beijing), Minsheng Art Museum (Beijing), Asian Art Space (Sydney) and Zhi Art Museum in Chengdu which is designed by Kengo Kuma. 

 

Mao Xuhui (b. 1956-), who participated in the Venice Biennale in 2011 and 2013, is one of the most important proponents of the 85 New Wave art movement in contemporary Chinese history. Mao's works were collected by several art institutions, including Kunstmuseum Bonn (Germany), Long Museum (Shanghai) and Yuz Museum (Shanghai). He has had solo exhibitions at the MOCA Contemporary Art Museum (Singapore), Hong Kong Art Centre (Hong Kong), United Art Museum(Wuhan), and Kuandu Museum of Fine Arts (Taipei). 


Hsi Shih-Pin(b.1977-) is one of the most important emerging sculptors in Taiwan. He sketches the fading and imagination of everyday objects through his work. His work has been collected by Jiao Yang Foundation, the National Foundation for Arts and Culture in Taiwan, Louis Vuitton Malletier, Hermes, and AP Watches. Hsi's recent major exhibition is "Spectrosynthesis-Asian LGBTQ" at the Museum of Contemporary (Taipei).

 

Zhang Yingnan's(b.1981-) artwork conveys a sense of emptiness at the end of reality and perfection in the modern world of human intelligence and civilisation. Zhang's artwork is collected by the White Rabbit Museum (Australia), AURORA Museum (Shanghai) which is designed by Tadao Ando, and Xiao Museum of Contemporary Art (Shandong). 


Japanese-born Yuya Hashizume's (b. 1983-) artwork is famous for his 'super flat' anime style. The character's facial expression in his artwork expresses the artist's emotional changes through daily life. Yuya Hashizume has a solo exhibition at the Powerlong Museum (Shanghai) in 2021 and has several major solo exhibitions in Korea and Taiwan.
