Yu Peng (real name Wu Kun-Ren), is one of the most influential figures in contemporary Taiwanese art.
A Hakka native from Pingyangtang, Yu Peng spent much of his life traveling between both sides of the Taiwan Strait. Known for his bold and unrestrained brushwork and emotionally charged expression, he developed a distinctive artistic style that fuses poetry, calligraphy, painting, and seal carving into a cohesive whole.

His diverse practice spans ink painting, calligraphy, oil painting, and drawing, often characterized by intense dramatic and spiritual undercurrents. Navigating freely between realism and abstraction, Yu Peng’s works not only reflect a profound contemplation of cultural roots but also embody his ongoing inquiry into the essence of life.
