Journeys of the Heart and Mind - Artists Group Exhibition

Jul 27 - Aug 24, 2024

The works exhibited in Journeys of the Heart and Mind all originate from different places and cultural backgrounds, and deeply reflect the inspirations and experiences of each artist during their creative journeys. They seek to challenge our traditional understanding of travel, viewing it not just as a change of scenery but as a sublimation of the inner world. For instance, Snow Country VI by Lin Bao-Ling was inspired by a trip to Shirakawa Village in Japan. Moved by the enchanting winter snow scene and fairy-tale-like buildings, Lin uses cool tones of blue, purple, and silver to capture the cold, serene night of the snowy season, accented by flickering yellow and white lights. This piece showcases the artist's pursuit of light and shadow as well as the warmth in his heart. Just as Yasunari Kawabata wrote in Snow Country: "With snow comes hope, snow is the hope of harvest." With his brush, Lin leads viewers into a misty, serene, and enchanting snowy world.

XX Li's works feature simple, vibrant colors and rich, lively emotions. She views creation as a journey of life, with each piece serving as a random, beautiful moment. A Tree Outside the Window is like a tranquil moment in that journey, where the window frame is both the boundary of the painting and a bridge to the outside world, hinting at the artist's deep observations and contemplations of the world. Through her unique perspective, Li transforms the sense of fulfillment and purity felt during the journey into a touching artwork. She skillfully uses the characteristics of acrylic paint to create rich, layered effects, allowing viewers to experience the tranquility and joy of the journey through her brushstrokes.

Everyone's travel experiences are unique, not only reflected in the change of geographical locations but also in the exploration and transformation of our inner worlds. Through the medium of art, we hope viewers can feel how travel inspires creativity and emotional resonance. Teppei Ikehila excels at capturing the beautiful moments of daily life, constructing a whimsical, pure, and childlike paradise on canvas. The scene depicted in Borrowed Landscape  JAPAN Now Shibuya 2 is one of Tokyo's busiest areas, with a lion appearing incongruously in the highly modernized setting, as if the artist seeks a primitive innocence in the urban jungle. This scene represents every traveler's longing for freedom and adventure. The vibrant and bustling scene enriches our lives and perceptions, encouraging us to rethink the meaning of travel as an exploration of the inner landscape.

This exhibition not only serves as a visual feast, but also a spiritual journey of enlightenment. We sincerely invite viewers to come follow the artists' footsteps and wander through these unique and profound chapters of their travels. Each work is like a window, leading us into the fantastical world depicted by the artists. We hope viewers can find their own resonance and connections with this exhibition, while embarking on a journey of spiritual inspiration.
