Soka Art Beijing is honored to introduce the new exhibition "Tang Zhiyi : River of Time" on 26th June. Tang has highly artistic sensitivity and he's very modest about his talents and achievements. He used lacquer as the medium of paintings, an extremely labor and time-consuming work, the layers of lacquer coalesce into a textured grace rendered by the repeated act of overlaying and washing This is Tang’s first solo exhibition in Soka Art Beijing, it includes Tang Zhiyi’s works from 2015 to up to now and we will exhibit Tang's three new series; Boom, Ashes of Time, Flowery Valued Ashes, which show his development and orientation in art.

Tang Zhiyi was born in Fujian, China in 1971. Now works as professor and doctoral supervisor at the Department of Academy of Art, Xiamen University. His work "A Fishing Boat" at the 10th National Art Exhibition in 2004, the government’s top award held every five year, and was collected by the National Art Museum of China. Tang’s work also collected by China National Academy of Painting Museum, the Publicity Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, Fujian Museum, Hubei Art Museum, Fujian Art Museum, Xiamen Art Museum, German Consulate General in Shanghai.

Great art is the result of civilization. In Tang Zhiyi’s hand, lacquer — a thousand-year-old plant material and a symbol of Eastern culture, it represents of time perception and historical accumulation. Lacquer art is an extremely labor and time-consuming work, the layers of lacquer coalesce into a textured grace rendered by the repeated act of overlaying and washing. In the new series, Tang gets started from the dusty ruins, leads painting into an invisible profound abyss. This exhibition includes Tang Zhiyi’s works from 2015 to up to now, which show his development and orientation in art. “River of Time” traditionally it implied to the time, acquired a new poetic sense. In Tang Zhiyi’s artwork, lacquer as carriers of the traditional ideas and contemporary spirit, its express intangible spirit by means of tangible. The exhibition start at June 26th at Soka Art Beijing, we are looking forward to your visit.
