Yu Xuhong was born in Kaihua, Zhejiang Province in 1975. He graduated from the Department of Oil Painting of China Academy of Fine Arts with a bachelor‘s degree in 2000, a master's degree in 2003 and a doctorate degree in 2008. He is currently a professor and doctoral supervisor of the China Academy of Art, and the director of the Art Museum of China Academy of Art.


He is mainly engaged in painting creation, research and curating. Taking “Light and Shadow · Landscape” as the motif, combining Western oil painting language with Chinese art spirit, exploring the image expression of Chinese image oil painting and contemporary art, and curating a series of painting exhibitions. He is the chief curator of ”The Brilliance of Song Dynasty in Modern Times" art exhibition, and curator of "The Way is Infinite -  CentennialRetrospective  Centennial of Zao Wou-Ki".
