Born in 1969 in Hualien, Taiwan, Vincent Fang is a Chinese pop music lyricist. In July 1997, he submitted his lyrics to Wu Tsung-Hsien and signed a songwriting contract with him.

After a few years in the industry, he gradually developed a highly recognisable style of songwriting. Fang Wenshan specialises in dismantling the inertia of language use, re-pouring the weight of words, giving them new meanings and weaving them into new textures, overturning the traditional scene of love writing in Chinese lyrics and building a new so-called post-modern lyrical style. In addition, he has created an old-fashioned mood in his lyrics, and the rhythm of Song lyrics is embedded in the words. He has been nominated for the Best Lyricist Award at the Taiwan Golden Melody Awards for eight consecutive years (12th to 19th), winning the awards for "Fort William" and "Celadon", and has also won the Hong Kong Film Awards for Best Film Theme Song "Chrysanthemum Terrace" and the Taiwan Golden Horse Awards for Best Original Film Theme Song "The Secret That Cannot Be Told". Apart from music, he has also been actively involved in film and television projects, directing dozens of music videos and CF short films, as well as film production, Hear the Sound of Rain. He also has a great passion and sense of mission for traditional cultural activities, such as attending the Cross-Strait Chinese Character Art Festival and the Beijing Forbidden City Lecture Series, as well as initiating and planning the Xitang Hanfu Culture Week in Zhejiang in 2013, which has become the largest annual event for the Hanfu community at home and abroad, and has been held for 8 consecutive years so far, with the 9th edition coming up this year (2021).
