He returned to China after completing his study in 1930. He successively worked as a teacher in Shanghai Art School, Xinhua Art School and Hangzhou Art School. In 1949, he toured Taiwan, Hong Kong and Singapore for making sketches and holding exhibitions. In 1950, he left Hong Kong for Indonesia. In 1959, he left Indonesia in 1959 and returned to China to work as a teacher in Shanghai Art School. In 1965, he was engaged in painting in Shanghai Oil Painting and Sculpture Workshop, which was renamed as Shanghai Academy of Oil Painting and Sculpture. He had also taken such posts as the director of Shanghai Artists Association, a member of Shanghai Literary and Art Workers Federation, a honorary member of Shanghai Overseas Chinese Federation, art consultant of Shanghai Communication University. He died of illness in Shanghai in 1995. Works: An Introduction of Western Paintings, etc. Published painting album: Collection of Zhou Bichu’s Paintings. He build Zhou Bichu Art Gallery in Pinghe County, Fujian and donated 120 scripts, paintings and some oil paintings made by some well-known contemporary and modern calligraphers and painters.
