Journey

Feb 25 - Mar 26, 2023

SOKA ART, 798 art District, No.2 Jiuxianqiao Road, Chaoyang District, Beijing, China

Journey, as an important theme of artistic creation, refers not only to the distance one travels in and through landscapes, but also to the traces he or she lefts after interacting between different physical dimensions. Whether strolling in the city or wandering through the countryside, artists transform what they see and experience into infinite creative potential in the continuous transformation of space and time. By sketching, stacking, and interweaving imagery on canvas, artists express their memories and emotions into contour and colors with ease.

Journey offers people the opportunity to see things that are viewed as common practice or have never been encountered before from new perspectives. This never-ending discovery and exploration are the daily routine for art practitioners. The traces of time are hidden in the picture frame. As the artists continue to toughen up themselves in the social reality, they experience changes in individuals thinking about life. With the continuous growth and enrichment of one’s inner self, artistic creation develops and changes. Through mutual dialogue, negation, struggle and acceptance within oneself, the inner strength and the outside world collide and mingle to burst out sincere emotions, constantly renewing tension and generating vibrant energy.

The exhibition, titled Journey, invited six artists, including Xu Zhen, Yan Zhancheng, Yang Xun, Zhang Ben, Zheng Mengqiang, and Zhou Dong, to showcase their recent artworks. They have years of practice in painting and thus have slowly established their style. Journey, as a medium for experiencing the world, provides opportunities for creative expression. Painting, as a direct way of communication, eliminates the existence of time barriers. Using painting as the medium to preserve ideas, artists explore the spiritual and philosophical aspects of art, embarking on a journey of never-ending exploration.
