New Era-Zhao Bo's solo Exhibition 2022
Mar 12 - May 08, 2022
Soka Art Beijing is very honored to welcome the first exhibition of 2022, artist Zhao Bo's solo exhibition epoch 2022, which will run from March 12 to May 8 for a total of 8 weeks. Continuing the context of the work "Consciousness Landscape" in 2015 and "The End of the World and The Cold Fairy Mirror" in 2018, the work is full of a unique sense of tragedy. The snow doomsday scene and dazzling and wild colors allude to the grotesque social chaos and spiritual anxiety in modern times. -
Ideological Image - Zhao Bo Solo Exhibition
Jan 23 - Feb 28, 2016
Born in Shenyang in 1984, Zhao Bo was the first artist that was eligible as a student for the exchange program at Oslo National Academy of the Arts, Norway. In 2011, Zhao went to Norway for learning exchange. That same year, Zhao obtained his master's degree in oil painting from Lu Xun Academy of Fine Arts. He is one of China’s high-profile emerging artists, as well as one of the few young Chinese artists under contract at Soka. In recent years, Zhao’s true/false, illusory theme style has been well-received by the market. In 2015, Forest of Desires No.2 was sold for HKD 400 thousand, over twice the estimated price, setting a new record in the auction market. -
Post-80s Generation’s Modernism
Jan 09 - Mar 06, 2016
The artistic styles of the seven artists invited are all uniquely different from one another. The only point of similarity is that they were all born after 1980 and have all chosen easel painting as their primary method of creation for the realization of modern art. During their journey in creating and using painting as a language, these young artists born after the 1980s, have managed to present their stories from their constant artistic explorations with strongly unique methods of expression, to enrich the different aspects of modern art, and bring the audience a new, refreshing visual experience. -
Ideological Image - Zhao Bo Solo Exhibtion
Jul 11 - Aug 30, 2015
Zhao Bo’s works record his perceptions of life and society. He used to create perfectly beautiful surreal dream worlds, but now he’s deconstructing this dream-world style he created. In its place, he creates fantasy patterns of consciousness in a state of truth, asking his audience to enter a deeper state of thought. -
A Window to the World - Asia’s New Trend
Jul 04 - Aug 09, 2015
This exhibition focuses on the concept of Asian contemporary art. Soka is the first art gallery to introduce Southeast Asian art to galleries in Taiwan, showing works from Indonesian artist Agus Suwage, Thai artist Natee Utarit and Filipino artist Gabriel Barredo. Their unique styles are ahead of their times, yet incorporated with local cultures and traditions. Soka has a close relationship with the art industry in Japan and Korea. We have hosted tours for prominent minimalist Korean artists, becoming the very first art organization in Taiwan to exhibit Korean minimalist works. This time, we present Park Seo Bo’s famous “Ecriture” series from his earlier works and contemporary Korean ink artist Moon Bong Sun’s works. Representing the Japanese contemporary art are works of Yayoi Kusama and Yoshitomo Nara, who both are trend-setting and well-known artists. -
Zhao Bo 、 Xun Guipin Dual Solo Exhibitions
Aug 03 - Sep 15, 2013
Generally, a new generation of young artists that shows superb technique boasts a range of stunning academy backgrounds. Yet, the few who are truly outstanding are able to maintain a sense of self-integrity and remain true to themselves. Zhao Bo and Xun Guipin indeed fall under this category of artists. With a sense of sorrow, Zhao Bo reads many books and contemplates many things. However, similar to Schophenhauer’s extreme pessimism as well as the notion of “when things reach an extreme, they can only move in the opposite direction” in Chinese philosophy, the ultimate sadness is also the expression of a boundless love for life and living. In contrast, Xun Guipin offers a more sunny personality, perhaps because the influences of social change have been comparably weaker in Yunnan than elsewhere. Or, perhaps he lives relatively closer to the countryside, so that he is able to maintain a more simplistic and content attitude. -

Ruins - Face of Contemporary Northeast China
Nov 19, 2011 - Jan 15, 2012
Each area or urban setting contains its own life, lineage, and memories that are inherently complex, overlapping, fragmented, chaotic, and even contradictory. This is because such memories originate from the desires, actions, pursuits, and creations of many individuals. When an area or city is uniformly reorganized through urban planning, then their memories are erased and all creativity is destroyed. What remains in culture is a barren desert. Therefore, this exhibition is not so much an attempt to exhibit realistic images of a “barren” but to enact a “pruning” of realistic representations. Perhaps, the featured artworks present a kind of “reality” found in Northeast contemporary art, or just one aspect of “reality”.

Apocalypse - Zhao Bo Solo Exhibition
Jun 04 - Jun 26, 2011
Between winters and summers, a crowd of young artists sprout. They are called “the 80s”. They, who was born after 1980, act and live like Zhao Bo said. In short, they are innocent. They care about freedom, truth, environment and the mental status of theirs or even public’s. They speak no great speech nor chase the success which made by public media. They simply keep the instinct of life purely and naively. The creations of “The 80s-artists” are presenting the purity and truth under the bottom of their heart.
